Welcome to the Ontario Health Indicator Library

The Ontario Health Indicator Library provides a fully searchable library of indicator profiles reported by OH and other entities. The library will feature indicator characteristics, including: the indicator definition, the rationale as to why (or why not) an indicator is reported, technical specifications, alignment information, information about data sources, and links to those sources. In addition to a keyword search, you can perform side-by-side comparisons of up to three indicators, based on different filters, such as sector, dimension, type, topic, and data source. You can also export the indicator definitions to a format of your choice.

Average time patients waited before they underwent a cardiac surgery or procedure	This indicator measures the average time patients waited for a cardiac surgery or procedure. Wait times were calculated from the day the patient and doctor decided to go ahead with the surgery or procedure, to the day the surgery or procedure was performed. A lower value is better. The wait time is reported for each priority level. Patients are assigned a priority level for surgery or procedure based on their clinical assessment. The indicator is reported based on the institution where the surgery or procedure took place. There are three cardiac surgeries or procedures reported Online: 1.A diagnostic cardiac catheterization (CATH), or angiography, is a catheter based diagnostic test that involves selectively injecting x-ray contrast dye into one or more coronary arteries in order to visualize blockages in the arteries and vessels that supply blood to the heart. 2.A percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), or angioplasty, is a procedure that involves using a catheter to insert a stent that opens blocked blood vessels in the coronary arteries. 3.Coronary artery bypass graft (CABG) is a surgical procedure performed on patients with coronary artery disease to bypass areas of blockage. Average time patients waited from decision to treat to completed surgery	This time represents the average wait time, in days, from when the patient and surgeon decides to proceed with surgery to having the surgery completed. The average time Wait 2 represents the typical time patients can expect to wait for the surgery to be completed. The average wait time is reported by the priority level with the most patients. Patients are assigned a priority level for their surgery by the physician based on clinical evidence. Total number of patients who waited for their first appointment with surgeon after the referral is received by the surgeon’s office or CIAC	Among patients who had a surgery or procedure completed, this indicator measures the number of patients who had wait time measured, that is wait time, in days, from when the surgeon or central intake centre receives the referral to the patient having the first appointment with the surgeon. The indicator is reported by the priority level with the most patients.
