Welcome to the Ontario Health Indicator Library

The Ontario Health Indicator Library provides a fully searchable library of indicator profiles reported by OH and other entities. The library will feature indicator characteristics, including: the indicator definition, the rationale as to why (or why not) an indicator is reported, technical specifications, alignment information, information about data sources, and links to those sources. In addition to a keyword search, you can perform side-by-side comparisons of up to three indicators, based on different filters, such as sector, dimension, type, topic, and data source. You can also export the indicator definitions to a format of your choice.

Average time patients spent (wait and treatment) in emergency department	This indicator measures the average time (hours) that patients can expect to spend in the emergency department (ED) waiting for and receiving treatment. The ED length of stay (LOS) is calculated as the average time interval between the earlier of triage date/time or registration date/time and the date/time when a patient is admitted to the hospital or discharged from the ED (non-admitted patients). A lower number is better.
