This indicator measures the premature mortality rates of people aged 18 to 74 (deaths per 1,000 people), in Ontario, by material deprivation quintile. Premature mortality is defined as deaths before 75
years of age. The material deprivation quintiles are derived from the Ontario Marginalization Index (ON-MARG) and describe the likelihood that an individual is unable to afford or attain essential goods and services. A lower rate is better.
